Proper Role of Law

I think there should not be pre-emptive laws against anything, in general, except violating the rights of of other to life, liberty and their pursuit of happiness. Regulatory rules like traffic rules for safety of public interaction are okay. The bottom line is to weigh the liberty and indivual progression cost  to society of any law. Law is force. Force should be severely restricted in its use by government for the “safety of the people and the children.” We need a serious debate about the proper role of law in this Nation.
